The first stage of the installation is to choose what type of hardware you
would like to add. Not all hardware types are supported for all guest types,
so the list may be smaller or larger than the screenshot.
Adding storage
Adding storage allows you to select an existing physical disk/partition or
file backed storage. The latter can also be newly created. The type of storage
must also be specified via the drop down box. Full virt guests include several
options, such as exporting the storage as a floppy or cdrom drive.
Adding a network interface
Adding a network interface is the same as during guest creation: you can
choose between available shared physical devices, and available virtual
networks. A MAC address can also be specified, otherwise one will be
randomly generated.
Adding a graphics device
Certain guest types support adding a graphics device. Only one graphics
device can be present at a time. With a VNC device, the port to use and listening scope can be specified, as well as an optional password and keymap. An SDL
device requires no other options, but will not be viewable via Virt Manager's
graphical console.
Adding an input device
A specific input device can be specified for fully virtualized guests.
Specifying a tablet mouse, with proper support in the guest, can allow better
mouse tracking in the graphical console.
Summary of parameters
The summary screen shows the selected device parameters before finishing
creation.
